University of Central Florida Admin suffered from Data breach

University of Central Florida administration faced data breach and allowed attacker to steal data of more than 63K staff members and past students. The officials announced about the breach on February 4 but they had idea about the breach since January. At present, the officials have started to collaborate with law enforcement and security firm. However, the breach had not included credit card details, student grades, and financial records. The attacker had stolen social security numbers, students ID number, credit hours numbers, practical sport, etc.

Symantec added new Cyber incidents in its Report

Symantec has decided to cover new threat categories in its report instead of spam activities. The Symantec report will now cover report on range of incidents from phishing to malware actions along with download option for chart and table in PNG or JPEG format. The data used in the report is pulled from Symantec Global Intelligence Network. The latest data is covered from December 2015.

Cyber culprits hacked DayZ Gaming Community

DayZ gaming community was compromised and the details of approximately 200K users were stolen. It is believed that Saudi Arabian hackers known as OurMine has hacked DayZ community. OurMine group was managed to infiltrate the official forums of the community. Hackers also posted the note on Tumblr account. DayZ gaming community also posted on its twitter account about the data breach. Hackers had stolen username, emails, and hashed passwords.

Dell has integrated Boot scanner in its Motherboard

Dell has collaborated with Cylance and added a new security in its motherboard to identify corrupted boot images. The bootkit malware threat seems hard to remove even trained IT individuals find it hard to spot this malware. To solve this issue, Dell has introduced Dell Data Protection | Endpoint Security Suite Enterprise – a boot scanning mechanism. This mechanism will scan post boot images and send to secure cloud server. The mechanism does not need boot image signature to identify uninfected boot images.

Google Chrome will show warning against Fake Download buttons

Google’s Safe Browsing technology has made an important update for misleading ads showing Software update message, unknown software dialogues, fake download, and play/close button. Google will flag warning and users accessing such website will show a full screen message regarding potential dangers. Google wants to stop misleading ads that abuse the website and shows stealthy content to deceive users.
