Just before one day of New Year Eve, we are going to lift a curtain from another useful security add-on in a Google Chrome SSL security add-ons series that figures out the fear of browsing unsecured websites and alert user about insecure password transition. This add-on also has feature to redirect desirable website from HTTP connection to HTTPS.
How it Works:
SaferChrome makes you aware about security of website by offering a security report of website via security icon in the address bar. On clicking icon, user can get information about website showing number of images, background images, flash script, page elements, etc. user can select option from Alert, warning, privacy, info in security report to be displayed next time.
The security report icon shows red color on finding any site suspicious or unsecured; on contrary, it shows green color for secured website, indicating the site is free from phishing and attacks. The report also shows the elements coming from third parties made for tracking web activity.
When user try to access website it also shows notification below the site address bar about the status of website.
How to download:
- You can download this add-on via Google Chrome WebStore
- Alternatively,
- Click on customized and control button on the right side of chrome browser.
- Under “Tools” click on extensions you will find a screen, now click on “Get more extension” link and find out “SaferChrome”.
Points to remember:
For SSL secured website which runs on both HTTP and HTTPS, user may be confused while he accesses such website with HTTP. In such case user will find unencrypted or partially encrypted connection in add-on security report message even though website is properly encrypted with valid SSL Certificate.
Eventually, SaferChrome proves to be a great extension that identify and alert user about website that can harm your web security or try to steal your information or credit card credentials for malicious purpose.
